Sonoma was gorgeous! The four of us had a fine time at the Russian River with Paul and ToniLynn. Especially Rory.It all began Saturday morning with the egg hunting (you can see him in the slide show). I say it began on Saturday, even though we arrived Friday evening, because getting to and from the cabin is another story... but that's another post. Back to egg hunting -
Matt and Paul hid the plastic eggs inside Friday evening (who were careful to write the hiding places down); into each I put Dove chocolates, animal cookies and/or Goldfish. Rory woke up and immediately began investigating and comparing his and Myer's baskets - the rubber duckies in his brother's were quite the hit, nevermind the chocolate bunny in his. Myer preferred his monkey and teething fish to the new bunny.
While that was going on, Matt slyly sneaked out to hide the real eggs. Rory's excitement was infectious, we all relived our childhoods vicariously through him. Then it was off to the coast at Blind Beach (near Jenner). The weather was perfect for hiking, playing in the sand and just generally laying on the beach.
After a burrito lunch in Guerneville, we headed north to Rosso Bianco, Francis Ford Coppola's winery. The last time we were there we all discovered Sofia, a sparkling blanc de blancs (on the dry side). We were hankering for more, not the least because we had to celebrate Paul and ToniLynn tying the knot, not once but twice! We hadn't seen them since before the holidays and their trip to Peru. Friday they made the ceremony they had with a shaman legally binding in a Monterey court. Cheers!
