Sea Horses Feb/Mar 2009

In February, Rory's class made stone soup - each child brought one item to contribute to the pot; Rory brought celery. They also watched the silent film The Red Balloon. I vividly recall watching this in elementary school, and crying at the end (the poor, faithful balloon!). I wonder about watching it at this younger age, but apparently Rory got the bulk of the plot and lesson because he talked about bullying for the rest of that week.

Rory has also been learning to write the alphabet - February was Pp-Ss and March was Tt-Ww. The highlight, as far as I'm concerned, was their celebration of Chinese New Year, for which they made a dragon kite and democratically selected the name of "Tricksy" for her.

Rory has also made a new friend, Jack Hanson, who has been accepted into the inner circle of friends along with Ardan, Bryce and Skylar.
