So, some can probably guess the reasoning for the title of this blog. But in case you've not yet heard the story of Rory and the nuns...Rory loves the movie 'Madagascar' and can watch it over and over (and over and over) without growing tired. There's a short film on the disc featuring the penguins Rico, Kowalski, Private and the Skipper, who all provide the comic relief in the main film and which Rory can also watch over and over again. Actually we all can, it's pretty darn funny. In one scene, the penguins are on a rescue mission outside the zoo and they camouflage themselves by following a line of nuns walking down the sidewalk.
Speaking of camouflage, the mind is a funny thing in terms of memory and what you recall from childhood. I will never forget how to spell the word because in fourth grade I made a saying out of it: 'camo-you-flag-e'. Okay back on point...
Let me preface this all, too, by saying that we don't watch much television in general, even less where the kids are concerned. It's scary how even a little tyke like Myer zones in on the tv; must be like drugs for babies to see all those colors and flashing blurred images. What we do watch as a family are a select few channels - Setanta Sports (of course the beautiful game!), Noggin, PBS, Discovery, and on weekends Disney. Matt and Rory were watching the Travel channel one evening about a program on British Columbia. In one segment, they were depicting the role of the church in the lives of the First Nations peoples and showed some nuns in the background. Rory shouts, "Hey look! Penguins!"
So, 'milk' is for Myer and 'penguins' for Rory. Thus, 'Milk and Penguins' is born.
