Is it the weekend yet?

Rory now firmly grasps the concept of the weekend vs. the work/school week. Every day he asks if tomorrow it will be the weekend. As in, "Mommy, when will it be the weekend tomorrow?"

I'm not a morning person (there's a news flash), but I have really come to love our little family's morning routine. And weekend breakfast is always 'special', either Dad's super fluffy pancakes or waffles. Rory now likes to help make the meals - there he is making waffles in the slideshow.

Our normal Saturday-Sunday morning routine involves getting out of bed between 7-8am. Well, okay, Matt is up and out of bed at that hour while I take a slightly longer time to rise and even longer still to 'shine'. Myer is up at 6:45 everyday, and usually just is content to sit up in between us in bed and play with his hands, feet, his binky, my hair... Rory pads down the hallway into our room by about 7:15; if it's the weekend, he'll normally pester us to 'rise and shine' because it's time to play/eat breakfast/watch cartoons or soccer.

About a week ago, we used the last of his pull ups and haven't bought more. Rory is now just sleeping in his PJs, and we must have doubled our normal laundry load this past week. So, the morning routine now also includes changing his clothes and sheets - yes, the correct answer to last week's poll is that pull ups are no longer part of his normal bedtime routine. The game of tickle tackle is also still a part of the routine - I think it's every father's duty to rile their children up right before bedtime. As nonsensical as it seems, it does work and that's good enough for me!

He is the heaviest sleeper, but I'm hoping that he'll quickly grow out of wetting the bed and make the transition to getting out of bed to use the toilet. Ardan's parents are going through the same thing at the moment, so we've been talking up the idea of a sleepover in the hopes that provides further motivation.
