Since moving over the to the mobile side in April, Myer's growth and development seem to be advancing by leaps and bounds. Miss Brianne and Miss Sarah, his two primary care givers on the mobile Jellyfish side, are both moving away from Monterey; we will miss them and are so thankful for all they have given to Myer and the other infants.
Here's the update on Myer's fine and gross motor as well as social skills.
He is completely accepting of solids. He's grabbing hold of a spoon and picking up Joe's O's and peas from his tray at meal time, and this week saw him reach another milestone as he is now putting them in his mouth to eat. Mastery of the pincer grasp is still somewhat elusive, however; most of the time the O's just stick to his wet palms or fingers. Some of his other newfound edible pleasures include peaches, squash, and green beans; his favorite two foods of the moment are peas and carrots.
He scooches all over the place, so much so that I am very tempted to strap a microfiber cloth to his middle and let him sweep up the dust bunnies:
When not cleaning the floors, he is usually content to play in his exersaucer or stand against the couch supervised.
Socially, he is very smiley and curious about other babies and kids. He is so interested in all that Rory does and says. He's not saying words yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if Rory's name is one of his first words. Though he isn't able to use words, he is expressive vocally. If any of us are engaged in conversation around him, he gets jealous and clamors for a little attention. And it is so evident how happy he is in the daycare; the sight of his teachers and their calls of "Hi, MyMy!" always elicit a huge smile and wide eyes.
