In preparation for Uncle Justin's visit next week, we are also playing a lot of hallway soccer. For those that can't picture it, our long and narrow hallway is about 15 feet long and entirely hardwood, a nice smooth surface for kicking. Tonight was a particularly rousing game with mother and son kicking back and forth full volleys, seeing how many times we could keep it going without stopping or pausing - 11 was the highest count. After running forward to kick, Rory also runs back on defense (his end of the hallway ends in the bathroom, which is the "goal"). He's picked up a lot, I guess, just by watching the game on tv every weekend.
In between all the kicking tonight his excited utterances included,
"Oh, good one [Mom/Rory]!"Apparently he remembers Matt telling him about Lisa's wicked left foot, because Rory also kicks almost exclusively with his left foot, and the fact that she could kick it so hard it when they played ball in the backyard.
"Cristiano!"
"Oh, that's like Auntie Lisa! She scared Daddy."
As for the little one, the report from the Jellyfish class today:
"Myer enjoyed watching the hanging toys and decorations, talking and singing."
Yes! The Ritchie genes persevere!
