Happy Birthday, Myer!

Grandma, GiGi, cousins Bob and Kathy Hill from Missouri, Seamus, Stephanie and Ardan were all here to celebrate Myer turning one. You can check out the slideshow.

The birthday boy didn't know what to think about all the visitors at first, but he warmed right up in no time. He didn't really have a clue that everyone was here because of his special day; he just knew that he got to stay up late to eat his first cake and get some new toys. Meanwhile Rory and Ardan were entertained on the deck with the great bubble blower from GiGi - what huge bubbles!

When the time came for special cupcakes, we all sang happy birthday to Myer. He was amused, and poked his little finger into a chocolate cupcake on the plate. Rory helped blow out the candle, and that's where things took a slight turn for the worse, as you'll notice in the pictures. Finally, some of the chocolate frosting on his finger made it into his mouth, and it was like a switch was flipped. He stopped crying, and began to investigate the cupcake a bit more. Soon, he had two fistfuls of cupcake and was smooshing them into his mouth. Mmmmm...

After awhile of everyone eating veggie quesadillas and guacamole, it was clear that we had better open his presents, as Myer was starting to fade. He got some wonderful little things - moose jammies, moose shoes, navy cords with a long sleeve top, a couple of wooden puzzles, two board books, a soft puppy, Yosemite black bear and a new toy that makes animal sounds. Lately he has been really taken with animals and their noises; he tries to imitate them and emits a little high-pitch squeal. It's very cute - I'll try to get it on video. Thank you everyone for coming, for all the presents and birthday greetings, and celebrating Myer's special day!
